Prof. Dr. Akram Al-Ibraheem is an internationally recognized leader in nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, and radiotheranostics. He currently serves as President of the Asia-Oceania Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (AOFNMB) and Chairman of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), Amman, Jordan, where he also leads the Thyroid Cancer Multidisciplinary Team.


He has been a pioneering figure in introducing and clinically implementing advanced radiotheranostics in Jordan and the wider region, translating emerging molecular imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy concepts into routine, patient-centered oncology practice. Under his leadership, KHCC has developed comprehensive theranostic and molecular imaging services and has become an important regional reference center for precision oncology.


His international roles include membership on the Executive Board of the World Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (WFNMB), serving as President of the Jordanian Society of Nuclear Medicine, and as Founding President of the Arab Society of Nuclear Medicine.


Since 2012, Prof. Al-Ibraheem has served as an expert consultant to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), contributing to international initiatives in nuclear medicine, theranostics, education, and capacity building. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the World Journal of Nuclear Medicine and holds several international scientific and advisory roles, with a strong focus on clinical translation.


A committed educator, he founded and directs the Nuclear Medicine Residency Program at KHCC. He has authored more than 260 PubMed-indexed publications, with an h-index of 30 (2026), and is recognized among the world’s top 2% of scientists in the Stanford/Elsevier global ranking.
