Dr. Tadashi Watabe is an Associate Professor and Lecturer in the Department of Radiology at Osaka University. He serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) for a physician-initiated clinical trial on targeted alpha therapy using astatine (At-211). Currently, two clinical trials are underway at Osaka University Hospital.
The first is the Alpha-T1 trial, which utilizes astatine ([At-211]NaAt) for patients with thyroid cancer who are refractory to radioiodine treatment (NCT05275946). The second is the Alpha-PS1 trial, which uses [At-211]PSMA-5 to target the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer (NCT06441994). Dr. Watabe also serves as the PI for clinical research involving [F-18]FAPI-74 (NCT05442151) and [F-18]PSMA-1007 at Osaka University.
He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, focusing primarily on the preclinical development of targeted alpha therapies using At-211 and Ac-225, as well as theranostics related to FAPI and LAT1.
