DR JOHN KOUTSIKOS
Chief of Department Department of Nuclear Medicine 401 General Military Hospital, Henry Dunant Hospital Athens, Greece Dr. John Koutsikos was born in 1971 in Arta, Greece. He completed his medical studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1996, graduating from the Hellenic Military Academy of Combat Support Officers as a lieutenant. In 2004 he received his Nuclear Medicine Specialization and in 2008 his PhD thesis in National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. During his post-graduate training he acquired expertise in Therapeutics, Neurology and hybrid imaging (PET/CT). Currently he is the Director of the Nuclear Medicine Department at 401 General Military Hospital in Athens, Greece and the Head of the Nuclear Medicine Department at Henry Dunant Hospital Center. His clinical practice and research interests are imaging and therapy of thyroid cancer, neuroendocrine tumors and skeletal metastases. Dr. Koutsikos has an extensive range of national and international teaching activities, while he is reviewer in several scientific journals.
Between 2010 and 2018 he was the General Secretary of the Hellenic Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging (HSNM&MI) and since 2019 he is the President of the HSNM&MI. His main goal from this position is the extroversion of our Specialty, while his vision is to promote the hybrid imaging (both SPECT/CT and PET/CT) and theranostics. |
