DR MAHAYUDDIN ABDUL MANAP
Consultant Nuclear Medicine Physician Department of Biomedical Imaging Advanced Medical and Dental Institute Universiti Sains Malaysia Bertam, Malaysia Dr. Mahayuddin received his MBBS from the University of Adelaide in 2002. He began his career in Australia before returning to Malaysia, where he worked at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) Kelantan in the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Oncology, and Radiotherapy. Here, he gained initial experience in nuclear medicine and engaged in oncology and imaging research.
In 2008, Dr. Mahayuddin commenced his specialist training in nuclear medicine, earning a Master of Medicine in Nuclear Medicine from USM in 2012. He further enhanced his expertise with advanced training under the IAEA in nuclear cardiology in Mumbai, India and radionuclide therapy in Amman, Jordan. He initially trained at HUSM and continue at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Penang General Hospital, where he reported on general nuclear medicine scans, including bone scans and PET-CT scans. He also managed radionuclide therapy for thyroid diseases and neuroendocrine tumors. Currently, Dr. Mahayuddin is a Consultant Nuclear Medicine Physician at Pusat Perubatan USM Bertam, overseeing the Nuclear Medicine Unit's daily activities. He also serves as the Academic Head for the Master of Medicine (Nuclear Medicine), where he lectures and supervises research projects. He has guided nearly 25 candidates (both Masters and PhD) and published several articles in reputable journals. Additionally, he actively participates in research programs within his institution and other academic institutions and serves on national committees regulating nuclear medicine practices in Malaysia. He is also the current President of Malaysian Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. |
